Whisky Galore!
Dodging snowdrifts was the name of the game this week on a day trip to the wilds of Aberdeenshire for a whisky tasting with journalist Helen Savage at Ardmore.
A tour of the stills and barrel hall was followed by an educational briefing all about the whisky and its background. And then onto the real business of the day - a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to taste a range of stunning whiskies straight from the barrel. Whiskies with over 25 years aging in old bourbon barrels were followed by incredible drams finished in rich sweet PX ex-sherry butts. While enjoying the aromas I asked myself, what was I thinking when I made myself the designated driver?!
